Im Zarathustra geht der einsame Wanderer in den frühen Vierzigern, jäh am Abgrund vor dem Zusammenbruch, wiederum ganz in die rhythmisch-musikalische Rhapsodenweise ein und erreicht damit seinen dichterischen Höhepunkt. Mehrere Jugendjahre lang geht Morgenstern begeistert in diese Nietzschesche Engadiner Höhenluft ein.
Die Rechnung steht nun für ihn so: Auf der einen Seite ‚alles Seiende‘ als Bild. » Denken ist für ihn ein «Übersetzen Gottes ins Rationalistische». Denken, das nicht vom Fühlen erwärmt und vom Willen erkraftet wird, hat für Morgenstern wenig Erkenntniswert.
